Lunar Impacts A Common Occurence

NASA just recently released pictures showing a significantly bright meteor impact on the surface of the Moon on March 17th. In fact, it was bright enough to be witnessed by the naked eye, equivalent to a 4th magnitude star!

These visible impacts are very exciting. They make the moon a much more interesting and dynamic object for amateur and professional astronomers alike.
